The Club

The aims of the Hibernians Budokwai Judo Club (HBJC) are to promote judo. The club stresses a positive learning environment that is open to both males and females. Our primary goal is safety and the workouts are centred around an encouraging spirit of judo that encompasses friendship, etiquette and sportsmanship. Training is a team activity and you will definitely meet new people.

The club caters for different age groups and the different aims of all its members. There are members who are interested in competitive judo and those who just want to keep fit. The level of training difficulty can be adapted to each member participating in the sessions. It does not matter if you are a beginner, you will receive particular attention and help throughout. All members had to learn their basics and so sympathize with the initial difficulties that one might find in mastering the different techniques.

Coaching is done by qualified coaches who are trained and also have been screened for their suitability for working with young athletes. Junior judo training starts at the age of six, but there is no age limit for senior members who wish to participate in this sport.

We also welcome parents to all training and competitions and value your support. We are keen to try and involve parents in the club and would like to invite you to visit us during our training sessions and meet the club coaches and administrators and find out more about the Hibernians Budokwai Judo Club.

The club, forms part of the A.S. Hibernians is affiliated with the Malta Judo Federation & ad and Malta Sports Council.  The club also has a bronze Club Mark. This Club mark is awarded to clubs by National Federations that meets the criteria related to playing programme, safeguarding and protecting children, sports equity and ethics and club management.
